Ashton Whips His Staff Into Shape with a Hot Pocket Ad?

A late night post on Twitter by Ashton Kutcher has my attention. Not because it was particularly funny or even tweetworthy, but because it intrigued me. Ashton tweets about a new fitness program that he and Jason Pollock have incorporated for the staff of Katalyst HQ.

Now the link in the tweet goes to this video:

As you can see it's an advertisement for Hot Pockets followed by a "comedy" sketch about fitness that is also an advertisement for Hot Pockets. But wait, it also ends with, you guessed it a Hot Pockets commercial.

Hmmmmm.....I am not quite sure how I feel about this. First, I fail to see the connection between Hot Pockets and fitness. Second, it's three Hot Pockets commercials in one.

Mrs. Chris Daughtry Tells Fans: Hands Off My Man

It appears that fans of the oh so sexy Chris Daughtry have been overstepping the line in the opinion of Chris and Deanna Daughtry as seen in their recent tweets on August 10th, 2009.

Fans not only have been drawing blood as they scratch and try to grope the singer, but they tried to steal his wedding ring after a recent show in Minneapolis.

We bet the impromptu autograph sessions will soon dwindle down as a line has officially been drawn for the fans in Deanna's list of guidelines for the fans.

Ask any woman, the biggest part of Chris Daughtry's appeal will always be that he is a devoted family man. It's simply sexy to see a man who truly loves his wife and it seems that Chris and Deanna are gonna make sure it stays that way.

Mark McLeod was spotted on the set not once, but twice. He was arrested twice and now he has been released again on a $50,000 bond. Does anyone believe that he will not try for a third trip to marry his beloved Miley?

Pete Hopkins: Up Close and Personal

I met Pete Hopkins on Twitter. One day, he just bounced into my Twitterverse, and has been a constant ever since. Who wouldn't adore someone that wakes you up with dedications of his song Become and calls you Sunshine.

Pete is an incredible singer and songwriter who recently wrote and performed a tribute song after the death of Michael Jackson. The song was inspired by his memories of the King of Pop and even shows similarities to Michael's musical style.

In this interview we get up close and personal with Pete to find out more about him. Enjoy ...

How long have you been performing?

All my life from a small child up until now. My family is musical and my Mom had me and my cousins performing tunes from Chicago (razzle dazzle 'em by the time I was 6... haha thx mom They tell me I could sing before I could talk.

How long have you known this is what you wanted to do?

Same answer really. All my life. I am drawn to music on a level I can't fully explain. I'm the kind of guy who if a song comes on over the speakers anywhere and I'm out with friends I will encourage everyone to stop talking and shut up and listen. It speaks to me with more meaning than I can describe.

What are the names of each of your band members? Where are you all from?

I have different band members in different regions of the country and know a ton of great players. My current most regular LA crew are up on my myspace.

How do you classify your music? What made you decide to become a musician?

I prefer not to label my work with genre classifications. When people ask me what section you would find my music in in the music store I like to answer "hopefully the best seller section" Basically if you like clever pop with some r&b flavor and a bit of rock thrown in with a dedication to originality and diversity, you will probably enjoy what i do. Or if you just like pop music... Adam Curry (Legendary MTV VJ) said "F*#k it man! You sound like yourself...I liked that.

Why did I become a musician? I think the music is in me and always was and was destined to come out. I started playing the guitar to win the heart of a girl who dug musicians and the rest as they say.. is history. Super glad that happened!!

Who are your major influences?

I try to avoid specific names. I've definitely got my faves. My hope is for my music to be experienced free of bias or influence i.d. markers. I won't it to be taken for what it is and not what it's supposed to be. Suffice it to say, I love great songwriting... clever wordplay... If it's funky or soulful, I'm gonna love it. I've got a real affinity for R&B flavor and have some rock roots. Also, I like to be surprised. I try to infuse all those elements into all of my music, all of the time.

Are you signed to a record label? And if so since when and for how long? Do you have an album release date?

I am an independent artist. I have an internet distribution agreement with www.itsaboutmusic.com/petehopkins.html and my music is available through all the major download sites. I have a new album coming which I hope to have out by the fall

Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues?

My favorite venues are large shows such as The House of Blues in Los Angeles, CA and large outdoor amphitheaters like The Koka boothe Amphitheater in NC. I have played lots of venues, too many to remember... .

Least favorites...?? I don't talk trash haha! (especially in public) there are a lot of political rules to follow to survive in this business. Basically, I am experienced enough to know what to look out for now and no longer have to play gigs that I believe would make my "least favorite" list, for which I am very thankful!

Do you write your own songs?

Almost exclusively! I have done some co-writes with well established writers who collectively have written songs for and with artists as diverse as Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Avril Lavigne, Rascal Flats, Usher, Goo Goo Dolls more...I love the art of songwriting and it is really special when you can find someone who you click with and tap into each other.

How have your family and friends responded to your success so far?

They are all very proud of me. They see it as a glamorous profession because they are basically only privy to the super cool highlights. A few of my very closest friends and family know everything and they are amazed at my drive and persistence in the face of such insurmountable odds. They are very supportive and tell me all the time to keep going, keep rocking, never give up and that I should already be a household name.

I luv my friends family and my fans. They are all my family really. We share a special kind of bond that I am grateful for daily.

How has your music evolved since you first began performing music?

Here is a brief recap: Picking out musicals on the piano as a young child a little older got into pop, then a little older it was metal, then to virtuoso guitarists, then to jazz, then to funk, then to fusion, then to r&b, then to songwriters then back to r&b all the while staying up on pop culture and absorbing it all like a cerebral sponge.. I would say it is going exactly as it is meant to and is an ongoing process...Meanwhile through the years.. learned to sing, learned the drums, learned the bass, attempted the violin learned better off not to try learned the piano, learned how to produce, learned how to engineer.

Still learning every day. This is a lifelong journey of discovery and experimentation. Awesomeness!!

What has been your biggest challenge as a musician?

Staying patient, finding the right team of people to align myself with who together can kick open doors and really crack the system. There is a great amount of noise you have to rise above to be heard and it takes persistence, more work than anyone could ever imagine and a will of steel.

What advice do you have for people who want to form their own groups/bands?

There are all kinds of bands and groups and it can mean so much or so little. It's up to the people involved. I will address the ones that are serious and really catch the fever... cause your life will never be the same once you do... here goes... Don't do it for money or for fame. Do it because you love it. If those things come then great, but the rewards of truly living this life come from within yourself. If you want money, become a doctor.

One more thing.. always remember the greats who have come before you and do not let down that legacy. You have some tremendous shoes to fill. Have enough respect for the music and it's audience to be that good or better. You are potentially carving your name into the annals of history. Make sure it's worth reading.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I wish to have toured the world once or twice.. Win a Grammy or two... Release at least three more CDs, co-write with some of my favorite writers for ex. Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder...Sting. Basically i just hope that my music gets to touch as many people as possible and that I'm doing the same thing i am now, only bigger and hopefully always better.

Give us your funniest backstage experience?

My very funniest backstage experience is just too racy sooo, i will never tell...

But i will tell you this one: A very well known venue (name not disclosed for security purposes) has a green room.. a very nice one. It is suppose to be VIP entry only and guarded by security. Well the night i played, they must have been asleep or something because before and after the show it was packed with my fans who had bum rushed the room and made it into their own private party palace. So what is normally just me and a couple of the band guys and the chosen ladies, became a freaking free for all. It ended up gettin pretty crazy and even when we all left they were still all partying it up in my green room.

I could have got someone to shut it all down and kick'em out but we were having too much fun to bother and they all loved it. I am after all an entertainer. It is in my nature to give the people what they want. Good good times!

Any pre-show rituals?

Nope.. no chicken dance or group mantras...usually just thinking about what to say between songs...or handling business... making sure everything is where it's suppose to be and such...

When you are not performing and rehearsing, what do you like to do? (hobbies, sports, etc)

I love movies, the ocean. I love 2 eat! if the music is jammin, I am known to dance my ass off!! Basically regular cool stuff everyone likes to do.

In your wildest dreams, who would you most like to perform on stage with?

Stevie Wonder. He is so monumentally talented plus an awesome guy and exudes the purest joy I've ever seen from a performer. I have several runner ups but he's the one I'd choose if I was rubbing the lamp to find the genie to grant my wish.

Behind The Scenes of Staring Down Video by Collective Soul

I recently had the pleasure of watching the soon to be released music video for "Staring Down, the new single by Collective Soul. I already loved the song, but the video made it even more special for me. The video simply put is a beautiful visual display of love.

Dean Roland informed us today that "Staring Down" is unique, in that it was written on a piano. Most songs are composed using a guitar. But this was not just any piano. this piano was given to Ed Roland by the incredible Elton John with one stipulation. Elton told Ed, "I'm giving you this as long as you write great songs on it."

The music video for "Staring Down" will release soon. It is a beautiful and touching compilation of love shown through several generations. The key to understanding the video is a cherished heirloom ring passed down from father to son and beyond. One can't help but believe this song and video is a bit autobiographical. It seems most of Ed's songs are based on life experiences and his incredible heart.

After the passing of his father, Ed said, "That kind of wakes you up to go, Wow, this is the one life I have, as far as I know. So I want to be positive. I want everyone around me to be positive. I have my wife, my sons, and my good friends. I have a good life."

The song "All That I Know" is written about Ed's wife. It was his way of telling her she's the one and only one in his life. The song "Good Morning After All" was written about his Mom and the incredible strength she brought to the family after the loss of their Father.

Collective Soul, Gavin DeGraw, Billy Norris & the Myrtle Beach Bar Fight

Looks like Myrtle Beach, SC had a bit of drama tonight as was revealed on Twitter tonight by Gavin DeGraw, Collective Soul and Billy Norris. this event gives new meaning to the term "Battle of the Bands."

Fans found out, from Dean Roland himself, that he and Ed were ok, but he had suffered a punch to the face, and it appears has been banned for a year, even tho he states they were not guilty of anything. We're pretty sure that bar fights were not part of the new tour itinerary, but it kind of gives new meaning to their new song "Welcome All Again"

An update from Billy Norris, guitarist for Gavin Degraw reveals a bit more detail on his twitter account when he states that everyone is fine, no one is in jail and he's going back to his hotel. But it appears a cool bar fight excites Billy a bit.

But it was Gavin DeGraw who gave the most detailed account of the bar brawl revealing that there were 20 drunk guys, and that it started with a sucker punch thrown at Dean, after which the entire "crew" jumped in.

He further states that even though he writes love songs, he is not afraid to "throw down like a man" and it appears the winner of the battle was definitely Collective Soul and Gavin DeGraw's crew.

Gavin even points out that the whooping the drunks got is going to hurt worse than their hangovers. The "douches" who were described as "big and slow and too aggressive" will forever have the memory of the day that they got whipped by two bands.

It seems we were right about our feisty Billy Norris, his final update warns future wannabe opponents to be careful what you wish for.

Both bands will be appearing at the House of Blues on July 13, 2009 in Myrtle Beach with

Green River Ordinance who had a bit of drama of their own today when they got into a car accident in Chicago which they repaired with a bit of duct tape.

If anyone has knowledge of the fight, pictures or better yet video...please let us know.

UPDATE FROM DEAN ROLAND:

Here's what happened:

There was a girl that was talking to Dean and Gavin, and another guy at the bar apparently liked her. It was his birthday, so Dean wished him a happy birthday. But then the guy asked the girl who she was with, and she pointed to Gavin and Dean. The guy then punched Dean in the nose. And yes there was blood.

Then Ed, who was sitting behind Dean, proceeded to jump over Dean's shoulders along with most of the crew to get the guy.

Gavin pile-drive's the guy with his elbow right into the guy's spine. Everything moved out into the streets.

The cops came and escorted everyone away. They were all told that they had a choice to go to jail or not come back for a year. They chose the latter.

Sorry Myrtle Beach fans.

Danny Gokey Exits American Idol Defying Predictions

Danny Gokey exited American Idol yesterday, but not before being acknowledged by Judges Randy and Simon as the one who should have been in the finals. They have been saying all along that Danny and Adam were the two to beat, yet one song by Kris Allen seemed to push him to the forefront.

Overall, Danny should get credit for being consistently better than Kris, however the American Idol fans chose their final two, and they are Adam and Kris. What's going to be even more interesting is if Kris Allen pulls off the biggest upset or "ding dong" as Simon so eloquently stated it, and steals the win from predicted winner Adam Lambert. How will Danny's fan's vote? Who will they favor? Everyone will be on the edge of their seats with this one.

Season six runner-up Blake Lewis returns to American Idol to perform on Fox Reality Channel's American Idol Extra on Thursday, May 14. He will be doing a cover of Disturbia by Rihanna, or course in classic Blake Lewis beatboxing style.

Beatboxing is a form of vocal percussion which primarily involves the art of producing drum beats, rhythm, and musical sounds using one's mouth, lips, tongue, voice, and more. In Blake's case it involves singing as well to create an eclectic blend of hip-hop and pop sounds.

Hugh Jackman Spends $4300 on breakfast for Fans Camped Out To See Wolverine

The excitement surrounding the Wolverine movie has been overshadowed by a Random Act of Kindness as Hugh Jackman provided 67 breakfast trays and 80 gallons of coffee for a hungry pack of "Wolverine" fans who camped out in front of a theater in Tempe, Arizona in order to see Monday's big premiere.

Hugh actually announced it on Twitter the night before.

TMZ has obtained the receipt from Paradise Bakery in Tempe, Arizona -- where Jackman bought the massive meal for the 800 devoted fans. The total bill, a mere $4308.87.

Wonder if Ryan Reynolds was around to assist in "Waiting" on the hungry fans.

Regardless, Hugh Jackman's Random Act of ~~Kindness~~ Coolness went a long way towards increasing his already incredible reputation with his fans.

David Letterman Plays Doctor To Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner arrived at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York on Wednesday, April 29 looking as beautiful as ever. She was there to promote her new movie, "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" with Matthew McConnaughey. But what started out as an interview, suddenly became a nurturing doctor and patient scene.

If you look closely in the photo, you can see bruises and scrapes Jennifer received to her knee after a fall. When David saw these he immediately turned into a kindler, gentler man, and even applied Neosporin to his injured guest.

Another shot of Jennifer and Matthew a few days prior (April 27, 2009) at Grauman's Chinese theater for the the opening of "Ghosts of Girlfriend's Past" shows her injury free. "Ghosts of Girlfriend's Past" opens in theaters on May 1st, 2009.

At about 3AM on April 26, 2009 Eminem (or his ghostwriter) started tweeting about his new music video which will debut on May 2, 2009 on Cinemax at 10:00pm EST. The infamous Marshall Mathers is back again after years out of the spotlight and the suspense is leading up to what could be his best work ever.

His first few tweets reveal a sort of lead to a horror-thriller:

The link leads to a trailer for the music video which shows images Eminem running through the woods apparently escaping from a psychiatric hospital , blood dripping down the walls of the facility and holding a bloody knife as he approaches a staff member. It has all the makings of a wild horror film, yet it's a glimpse of his upcoming album "Relapse."
