A new movie from Dreamworks is coming your way January 2009 called Hotel For Dogs starring Lisa Kudrow (Friends), Emma Roberts (Nancy Drew), Kevin Dillon (Entourage) and Don Cheadle (Traitor).

The story is about 3 young kids that have to find a new home for their dog, and during the search find several stray dogs who need a place to stay as well. When their dog, Friday, runs into an abandoned hotel, a plan is made to turn the hotel into a home for stray dogs.

And these kids dream up lots of fun ways to make taking care of the dogs easier including a fetching machine that automatically tosses balls to the dogs when they are away and a really cool vending machine that dispenses old shoes for the pups to chew on.

We meet dogs along the way like Frick and Frack who used to be pampered pugs, until their owner passed away and there was no one to care for the pets.And Chelsea the three legged pup whose owners could not afford the vet bills and abandoned her. There is even a love story with a poodle named Juliet and Romeo, the misunderstood Chinese Crested dog.

Not only is this movie a great family flick to see with the kids, but the product placement (by Pedigree) is done with a promise to save stray dogs everywhere. Pedigree is making a donation for each ticket sold (up to $250,000.00) to the The PEDIGREE Foundation—a newly-established 501(c)(3) private foundation dedicated to helping dogs in need find loving homes by supporting the good work of shelters and breed rescue organizations throughout the country.






The original novel Hotel For Dogs was written by Lois Duncan and first published by Houghton Mifflin in 1971. Next January, Scholastic will publish a new edition of the novel to coincide with the movie version of Hotel for Dogs.

Duncan will continue the story of the young dog rescuers in News for Dogs, a novel scheduled for April 2009 release by Scholastic, and a third installment will follow in 2010 which details the stray dogs visting Hollywood.
